The Power of the Sun

One of my favourite experimental picture types is using the sun in photos. The effects of the light in different types of photo and at different times of day are really interesting to me. You will see the development in my skills as the photographs progress, as the first one I took was a few years ago, and the last being taken just a couple of weeks ago.
This is the first sun picture I ever took, taken through the window of a moving car, but I kind of liked the effect on the snow.

While playing with the "Sunset" setting on my camera in Richmond Park I snapped this shot, and instantly loved the effect. The spread of the light is really clear, without the almost black and white effect I was getting in my other sun pictures.
Those are the best of the crop, I have more but they didn't make the cut for public display. I'm a little bit of a perfectionist I'm afraid =)

Until next time

The Blossoms of Spring

First, to set the record. As will probably become quite obvious, I am a complete amateur. I take photos because I enjoy doing it. Some of my stuff is very normal, and some of it is rather odd. This blog is for me to share my experiments and maybe get some tips as well. Please comment if you like/dislike/can recommend ways to improve my pictures.

For my first post, I thought I would show you one of my favourites kinds of photograph. There are few things I love more than seeing the first flowers and blossoms on the trees in springtime. Therefore I thought the best way to start would be with some of my pictures of the first blooms of spring.

I can't remember where I took this, but I love the contrast between the flowers and the blue of the sky

Taken on the tree outside the local house and gardens
I love how pretty and delicate these flowers are.

Bluebells in Whippendell Woods

I know strictly this isn't a flower, but I loved the look of this. It's just like a little faerie house amongst the bluebells!

I hope you've enjoyed this first glimpse into my world!
